As a matter of fact, in today’s blog, we’d like to provide our readers with a few recipe ideas to get you started on the path towards culinary diversity!
Pork Chops and Red Eye Gravy
Who doesn’t love pork chops and gravy? Whether you prefer to toss your pork chops on the grill the get the beautiful grill marks that come with the territory or you’d rather sear them in a bit of oil and butter in a cast iron skillet, pork chops are delicious pretty much how ever you cook them.
Gravy can be the thing that takes your pork chops to the next level.
Our favorite way of preparing this gravy is to fry our pork chops up in a skillet, then transfer them to a plate to keep warm. Next, add butter to your pan, followed by a quarter cup of flour, cooking until everything is nice and golden brown and whisking constantly. Your next step will be to throw in about half a cup of brewed coffee, a half cup of milk, and a cup and a half of your favorite broth. Continue cooking until everything is nice and thick, then ladle over your pork chops and serve everything nice and hot, basking in the delicious taste that coffee added to your pork chops and gravy!
Coffee Jerky
Can coffee and beef jerky really go well together? You’d better believe it! As a matter of fact, making your own beef jerky is even easier than you’re probably imagining--and you get the added benefit of being in complete control over what’s going into your food. Sounds like a win/win to us!
This recipe from the Art of Manliness is a great starting point. Trust us when we say that once you start making your own jerky, you’ll never go back. Our only suggestion is to add in a few tablespoons of ground coffee when you’re in the marinating process. We would highly recommend using our Henry’s Reserve coffee beans thanks to the delicious smoky flavor already present in this particular variety of coffee. From there, simply follow the rest of the recipe above, adding or subtracting any ingredients in order to customize the recipe to best suit you, then cook. The final step, of course, is enjoying a snack of beef jerky knowing that you made something delicious with your own two hands. It really doesn’t get much better than that!
